Many children’s novels have been adapted into films. Titles such as:

- Snow White and the Huntsman
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
It should only be befitting that Hansel and Gretel receive their own movie.
Brothers Grimm fairy tale tells the story of brother Hansel and sister Gretel. Hansel and Gretel are the children of a poor woodcutter; who’s second abusive wife persuades the woodcutter to leave his children in the nearby forest. As times are hard with not enough food to eat the woodcutter agrees to his wifes demands. Hansel and Gretel over hear the conversation, devising a plan Hansel takes a some bread and leaves a trail of breadcrumbs to help him and sister find their way back home as they know they will be left alone in the forest. Once abandoned in the forest they realize that birds have eaten the breadcrumbs that Hansel had left. Alone and hungry they come across a house made from gingerbread, hungry they eat at the house. An old woman comes out of the gingerbread house and lure the children into the house with false promise of food and soft beds. To their surprise they discover that the old woman is in fact a witch. The witch locks Hansel in a cage to fatten him up so she can cook him and Gretel used as slave.

Very smart the
children outwit the witch, as Gretel pushes the witch into the hot oven
where she burns to death. Finding the witches treasures the two young
children eventually find their way home to their Father. They learn that
their stepmother has died and their father has regretted his decision
to abandon his children. They live out their lives happy.
The film sees Hansel and Gretel 15 years later since the gingerbread
house incident. Hansel and Gretel have become experienced witch hunter
know for their hunting style the Mayor of Augsberg recruits the two
siblings. An evil sorceress in the nearby forest of Augsberg is planning
to sacrifice many of the local children for the witches gathering. The
witches gathering is on the night of the blood moon in two days time.
Hansel and Gretel most fight to save these local children before the
witches have time to execute their evil plan. The pair also have to deal
with the local brutal sheriff who has taken power of the witch hunt
into his own hands.

Gretel played by Gemma Arterton known for her roles in. Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia and Tamara Drew.
